Originating in China in 2800 BC, today there are over 40,000 varieties of rice grown worldwide. From long grain to basmati to jasmine, Rice is the second highest worldwide production crop, behind corn, with over 700 million tons produced annually! That's a lot of rice! For our Japanese-Style Fried Rice, we chose long grain white rice for its delicate texture and versatility to go well with a wide variety of Asian meals.
Although seemingly simple, made with wheat flour, rice flour or mung bean starch, the varieties of Asian noodles to choose from are endless. The popularity of Asian Noodle Shops continues to grow as Yakisoba, Udon, Ramen, Glass, Lo Mein and Rice Noodles are developing legions of fans here in America. For our Sesame Noodles, we selected Japanese-style Yakisoba noodles for their unique, chewy texture.
